Temperatures are expected to rise in Seattle over the next several days, with forecasts predicting that by Monday we may see temperatures reach 90 degrees or higher. As warmer weather arrives, we want to remind all residents to take extra care, stay cool, and pay close attention to hydration.
Older adults can be especially vulnerable during periods of high heat, and dehydration can happen more quickly than many people realize. Please remember to drink water throughout the day, even if you do not feel thirsty.
Keeping a glass or bottle of water nearby can be a helpful reminder, and residents are encouraged to check in with neighbors, friends, and staff if they are feeling overheated, lightheaded, unusually tired, or unwell.

If you have a cooling unit for your apartment and would like assistance connecting it, please fill out a maintenance slip so our team can help. We want to make sure residents who have cooling units are able to use them properly and safely during the upcoming warm weather.
In addition, several common areas in the building will be available as cooling areas for residents. The OV Room, Library, and Harbor Room will be open for anyone who would like to spend time in a cooler shared space. These rooms are available for residents who may not have cooling equipment in their apartments, or who simply need a break from the heat.

Residents are also reminded to turn down their apartment thermostats before opening windows. This helps avoid unnecessary strain on the building systems and keeps your apartment as comfortable and efficient as possible.
Thank you for taking care of yourselves and one another.
