The Nook at Northaven
Now Open!

The Nook at Northaven workforce housing community will consist of a blend of studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments, designed to accommodate families earning 60–80% of the area median income, equivalent to $57,000–$90,000 annually.

Now Open: The Nook at Northaven Welcomes New Residents

Nook at Northaven is now open and welcoming residents! This vibrant addition to the Northaven campus includes a six-classroom early learning center operated by the Refugee Women’s Alliance (ReWA), offering high-quality, affordable, and culturally responsive early childhood education and care for more than 100 preschoolers.

Developed by Gaard Development in partnership with Northaven, Nook at Northaven brings new life to the vision of an intergenerational community where seniors, working families, and children live, learn, and grow together. From shared gardens to mealtime connections and outdoor play, the campus now thrives as a hub of mutual support and community spirit.

This milestone was made possible through generous support from the Gorder Family Foundation and the Echo Fund (facilitated by Realize Impact), with key financing from Amazon, BECU, and the Seattle Office of Housing. Amazon’s $9.8 million below-market-rate loan—part of its Housing Equity Fund—helped ensure Nook at Northaven would become a reality, contributing to the broader goal of expanding affordable housing in our region.

The opening of Nook fulfills Northaven’s longtime dream of creating an inclusive, intergenerational environment—where lasting relationships are built across ages and backgrounds, enriching the lives of all who call it home.
