The holiday season at Northaven is rooted in comfort, connection, and the traditions that bring us together year after year. Throughout December and into the New Year, residents and staff alike come together to support one another, share meaningful moments, and celebrate in ways both big and small. From music and laughter to shared meals and familiar faces, each gathering reflects the strong sense of community that makes Northaven feel like home during the holidays.
Tuesday, December 16 – Cookies & Carols (Evening)
A resident singing group will host an evening of Cookies and Carols, creating a warm and festive space to enjoy seasonal music, sweet treats, and the simple joy of being together.
Friday, December 19 – Holiday Party
Celebrate the season with entertainment by local barbershop quartet Top of the Hill, along with homemade tiramisu, wines, punch, and eggnog. This festive gathering offers a wonderful opportunity to relax, connect, and enjoy good company as the holidays approach.
Tuesday, December 23 – Holiday Game Time
Residents are invited to join in for seasonal trivia, movie and song challenges, and group activities, all with a holiday theme and plenty of good cheer. It’s a fun, lighthearted way to come together and celebrate the season.
Thursday, December 25 – Christmas Day
While the Northaven office and dining services will be closed on Christmas Day, residents are invited to begin the morning with a simple and sweet tradition:
9:00 AM – Cinnamon Rolls in the OV Room
Stop by the OV Room to enjoy warm cinnamon rolls and a relaxed holiday morning with neighbors.
In addition, residents often organize an informal Christmas Day potluck for those not attending off-campus celebrations. This gathering tends to evolve as the day approaches and helps meet the desire for something a little different on Christmas Day. A sign-up sheet is available, with details coming together closer to the holiday.
Wednesday, December 31 – New Year’s Eve Party | 6:00–8:00 PM
The Northaven New Year’s Eve Party is a long-standing favorite—early in the evening, easy to get to, and filled with energizing music from our familiar band. This year’s celebration includes dinner and dancing, making it a truly festive and joyful way to ring in the New Year together.
Together, these moments highlight the many ways the season is marked at Northaven—through shared traditions, everyday kindness, and opportunities to connect. Whether large or small, each gathering plays a role in creating a holiday season that feels thoughtful, welcoming, and true to the rhythm of life in our community.
