A Life in Color: Donna Thompson’s Art at Northaven
Six decades of creativity find a welcoming home at the Northaven Community Art Gallery.
A mountain landscape, colorful bouquets, and three figures gathered on a rocky shore—Donna Thompson’s paintings offer plenty of reasons to pause on the way through Northaven. Her work is the latest exhibit at the Northaven Community Art Gallery, bringing vivid color and a personal perspective to a space shared by residents and visitors alike.
Donna, who has called Northaven home since 2022, has been creating art for more than 60 years. Her professional life as an architect fed her desire to create, while travels around the world provided further inspiration. Featuring both natural and human subjects, her paintings share a lifelong appreciation for the people and places around her.
Donna is the third artist to exhibit on Northaven’s gallery wall. With added lighting and signage, this growing project gives resident artists a welcoming place to share their work—and gives neighbors a chance to discover the talents within their community. Donna’s paintings will remain on display for several months, offering time to stop by, take a closer look, and enjoy the details.
More Creativity to Come: October 2 ArtsWalk
Donna’s exhibit is one of the ways the arts are finding a home at Northaven. This fall, that celebration continues with Northaven’s 4th Annual ArtsWalk on Friday, October 2, from 2 to 3:30 p.m., in the public spaces on the second floor of Northaven Independent Living.
Residents from all four buildings are invited to share their creative expressions. Come enjoy a glass of wine, explore the artwork, and appreciate the imagination and talent found in our little corner of the world.
