Northaven Residents Celebrate Pride Month with 4th Annual Ice Cream Social

A joyful gathering in the newly completed North 40 brought residents together to celebrate community, acceptance, and equality.
Northaven residents welcomed the start of Pride Month with our 4th Annual Ice Cream Social on June 1, gathering for an afternoon of sweet treats, conversation, and community connection. The weather could not have been more perfect, with sunshine, blue skies, and a light breeze across the newly completed North 40. Some residents enjoyed the shade beneath the new awning, while others were happy to sit in the sun and soak up the beautiful afternoon.
More than 55 residents from all four buildings in the Town of Northaven came together to enjoy ice cream with chocolate sauce, sprinkles, whipped cream, and plenty of friendly conversation with neighbors. The event marked only the second gathering held in the newly completed North 40, an outdoor space that had served as a construction staging zone for the past four years.
Now transformed, the North 40 offered a welcoming and accessible setting for the celebration. Resident garden planters were already beginning to bloom, the grass was green, and the wide walkways made it easy for residents to gather, visit, and enjoy the day together.
It was the perfect space to celebrate Pride Month and Northaven’s continued commitment to acceptance, equality, and belonging.
The event was planned by Shari Crossland, MSW, Northaven’s Resident Services Coordinator, who also leads Rainbow Seniors, a monthly group that meets on the first Monday of each month.
